RICHMOND — The Virginii Cooperative Extension will undergi another round of evaluation over the next year. This time; however, state officials say they won’t be looking foi additional ways to reduce programs and staff.
Since 1989, Extension has gone from 416 agents to 287 due to state budget cuts. With that, has come several internal and political struggles over how to re-allocate the scarce resource.
The new study, a program evaluation, should help ease those tensions, according to Virginia Secretary of Education James Dyke. The state has not set goals and priorities for Extension since 1980.
