in art run

CULPEPER — The Windmore Foundation for the Arts will be celebrating the opening of the new amphitheatre in Griffinsburg with a “Field of Dreams Festival” on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The day’s festivities will begin with a “Put Your Heart in Art” 5K run. Race co-chairs, Tim Kearney and Julia Peck, are excited about the race. “It is a scenic cross country course including a paved road (no traffic), a wooded equestrian trail, a run past Lake Cameron and ending at the Windmore Cultural Center,” said Ms. Peck. “It is a perfect opportunity for people in the area to come see what Windmore is doing at the Cultural Center.”
Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top three finishers in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over. All entrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
There will be a $7 advance registration fee, $10 on race day. Entry forms are available at Culpeper sports clubs, from area merchants, or by calling the Windmore office at 547-2555 and leaving a name and mailing address.
Following the race will be a day of arts entertainment at the Windmore site. Everyone is invited to come enjoy the music, an art show, some special displays and refreshments.
