“When I moved here I was really starting a new life for myself,” said Rabbi Theodore. “My idea of developing a group of people to largely live independently was part of my way of trying to see if I could make it in the country,” she explained.
The community was designed on the concept of a “future village,” which would live out some of Rabbi Theodore’s beliefs about how civilization was going to survive. “My first intention was to try to attract colleagues to work with me,” she said.
