WARRENTON — The Johnson Mountain Boys will perform at the sixth Bluemont Summer Concert of the 1992 Warrenton season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. Held on the lawn of the Warren Green Hotel in downtown Warrenton, this family concert has a requested admission of $3 per person. All are welcome.
The Johnson Mountain Boys, one of the nation’s premier bluegrass bands, are resplendent in country suits, hats, and some of the best hard-driving bluegrass and old time country music you will find anywhere, said Bluemont director Peter Dunning.
The band first gained national recognition in 1980 with their exciting performances of oldtime country and bluegrass music. The band became famous for their professional execution of 1940’s and 1950’s country and bluegrass classics as well as their own original compositions.
In 1990 the band was nominated for a Grammy for best bluegrass album of the year. The band has performed at venues nation-wide from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville to Lincoln Center in New York City.
The members of the band are Dave McLoughlin on mandolin, Marshall Wilbom on bass, Tom Adams on banjo, Dudley Connell on guitar and Eddie Stubbs on fiddle. The Johnson Mountain Boys are noted for their strong singing featuring some wonderful old time four part harmonies.
