Summer Reading continues
Puppets! Clowns! The Summer Reading Program continues at the Rappahannock County Library with clowns! F & M - Winchester, Flint Hill Office is sponsoring a performance of "Clowning Around” presented by Bob Brown’s Puppets. Come and see the merry marionettes juggle, fly on the flying trapeze, blow up balloons and much more. This will be presented at the library at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12. (Please note time change.)
Dodson family reunion
The reunion of the late Ernest and Neva Nicholson Dodson will be held at the Rappahannock Park, U.S. 211, Washington on Sunday, Aug. 16. All relatives and friends are invited to come and bring a picnic lunch. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Auction items sought
Items are needed by Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for an auction to be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 26. Anyone wishing to donate items should call 676-3616 and leave a message. The auction will benefit the fire department.
Carnival at Chester Gap
Due to bad weather the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department rescheduled their carnival for two days, Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22.
On Saturday there will be a horseshoe tournament at 12 noon. Saturday night the band Stonebridge will perform two shows, 7:303:30 and 9:30-10:30. Please help support your local fire department. “There will be fiin, food and games for all ages and an invitation is extended to everyone," said an organizer.
Auction scheduled
A benefit auction for the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 at the fire hall. For pickup service call 937-6206, 937-4781 or 937-6282.
