Williams

right choice

To the Editor:

Although I’m not from this area, I believe the subject of higher education is of vital importance to our entire Commonwealth.

And as a student in a public university, I think Earle Williams, Republican candidate for governor, has the experience and viewpoint we need leading Virginia. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Williams when he visited my campus, George Mason University.

Earle Williams knows the concerns of Virginia’s universities well, having been appointed by former governor John Dalton to the Virginia State Board of Community Colleges, where he served for seven years.

He served for six years on the board of the Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation Inc. and continues to serve on the GMU Foundation board, as he has for nearly a decade.

With 20 years experience as chief executive officer of a Virginia hightechnology firm employing thousands of people, Earle Williams is the only candidate who has proven experience in making tough budgetary choices between needs and wants.

And as our next governor, he’ll have the courage to re-order Virginia’s spending so that the basics like education, transportation and economic development are priorities again, not second thoughts.
