1 hroughout the village prominent professional crafters will be demonstrating their art. Demonstrations will include a variety of quilting techniques, silver and gold smithing, jewelry design, a floraculture artist demonstrating colonial Christmas decorations, dried flower arrangements, etchings and prints, hand-cut crystal, handmade rugs, needlework, folk art painting, and other traditional crafts and arts.
Numerous children’s activities will include a children’s Christmas bazaar and gift-making program and photos with Santa at the Child Care and Learning Center. Both days there will be a Santa’s Bake Shop in the new Town Hall with the owners and staff of the renowned Inn at Little Washington serving their delectible Christmas treats to the town’s guests. The Town Hall will also be the site for performances by our well-known First Washington Colonial Dancers.
Guests of the village will be treated to refreshments at many stops around town, but a special treat of the celebration will be colonial meals served at the local cafe, a traditional Christmas dinner served at the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, and delightful meals provided at other area inns and restaurants. Come sample the delectible tastes of Cornish game hens, traditional salt-cured and glazed ham, chicken and dumplings, Sally Lund bread and combread, Brunswick stew, and a variety of traditional desserts, including apple, pumpkin and pecan pie.
A highlight of the celebration will be the live entertainment. From the traditional elegance of the minuet and Baroque and Renaissance chamber music to the rich ballads and tales of the troubadour, visitors will enjoy traditional colonial music and
