4-H teen club to meet

The Rappahannock County 4-H Teen Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at the Extension Office. The program on the Adopt-aStream project will be presented by Kenner Love from the Soil and Water Conservation District. He will explain how 4-H’ers and their families can “adopt” a section of a stream, creek, or river and monitor it for water quality. This is similar to the adopt-a-highway program for keeping the highways clean only you adopt-a-stream to keep it from getting polluted.

The 4-H Teen Club is open to all youth ages 13-18. They will be studying environmental topics and field trips this year. For more information call Mr. Love at 675-1330 or the Extension Office at 675RCES

PTO meeting

The monthly meeting of the Rappahannock Elementary School PTO will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the library. Information on the DARE program (substance abuse) and CCWHY (youth concerns) will be presented with discussion following. All interested persons are invited to attend. Workshop planned

Workspace for Coreographers presents the “Singing Body; The Dancing Voice,” a day-long workshop in sound and movement with Cathy Paine. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14. Cost is $25. Call Sally Nash at 987-9234 for further information.

Educator's conference scheduled

The PTO of Rappahannock Elementary School is holding the second annual Rappahannock Educator’s Conference from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at Rappahannock High School.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Creating the Learning Community.” Teachers in public and private schools, home-schoolers, youth workers, parents, students, businesses and community organizations are invited to attend. The conference is free of charge and no pre-registering to attend is necessary. Participants may come for just the morning or afternoon sessions or attend all day. Bring a bag lunch. CGVFD halloween party

The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a halloween party from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at the fire hall. Prizes for best costumes, games and refreshments will be served.

Fun fair planned

A halloween fun fair will be held at the Rappahannock Elementary School from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. The fair is sponsored by the PTO. Some activities will include haunted library, games, food and fun for the entire family. Rides will include the Astro jump and choo choo ride. Please wear a costume.

The seventh graders will be sponsoring a pizza dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. on Oct. 30 as well. “Everyone is urged to support the seventh graders and then attend the fun fair,” said a spokesperson.

Halloween party

The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be sponsoring a halloween party for kids beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Prizes will be awarded in different age categories. Refreshments will be served.
