The woman was able to maneuver her car free, Streapy said, and attracted neighbors’ attention by blowing the horn. They called the Sheriffs Office.

A short time later, a vehicle matching the description given by the woman was spotted by sheriffs deputies investigating the attempted assault. Deputies Ron Dodson and Chris Williams attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled.

The driver led the deputies on a chase across the county until the car finally ran off the road into a ditch on U.S. 211 in Culpeper County. Meanwhile, Sheriff John Henry Woodward responded to the scene and assisted in a foot search for the driver, along with Culpeper County deputies and a tracking dog.

Streapy said Lambert was identified as a suspect in the case and the investigation resulted in charges being placed against him. He declined to provide additional details.

Streapy reported that the Sheriffs Office is also investigating a daytime breaking and entering Oct. 24 at a home on Route 640 near Amissville. The thieves gained entry by breaking a window, Streapy said,
