Do you.. .or your kids.. .belong to an organization that continually needs to do fund-raisers? Is a bake sale the favorite, tried-and-true fund-raiser? If so, read on for this week in my column, I’m offering some marketing tips to make your next fund-raiser more successful.

Getting organized

* One of the keys to a successful fund-raiser is being organized. Make a list of items to take and arrive early to be set up by the designated time that you advertised. Items to take with you include:

Table covering. Plastic is best for outdoors. If you want to use cloth, cover with clear plastic table covering.

Rocks. Necessary when outdoors to weight some items down. For a festive flair, paint according to your color scheme.

Sign. A must! Always identify the name of your group and where the proceeds go. Be creative. This can be an eye-catcher, and will encourage more customers.

Paper/Plastic Bags. Many people are buying for later use. This makes transportation easier.

Saran wrap, wax paper, etc. Always needed. You never know when “Mary, Mary, quite contrary” will
