Most of us know a lot about the major campaigns of the Civil War - Manassas, Brandy Station, Gettysburg, ect. But how many of us know the details of and reasons for the various troop movements up and down the Shenandoah Valley, and their impact on the outcome of the war?
Your chance to learn about the Valley Campaigns of the Civil War will come at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1 in the Rappahannock Library, U.S. 211-622, just outside Washington.
Donald Pfanz, the guest speaker, has a considerable knowledge of the Valley Campaigns through his association with the FredericksburgSpotsylvania National Military Park and the Association for the Preservation of Civil War Sites.
Rappahannock Historical Society meetings are held quarterly and are open to the public. A question and answer period will follow the discussion. Cider and cookies will be served.
Society President Cathy Knuepfer invites all members and guests to attend and bring their friends.
