Donna Sylvester had an established business in Warrenton working as a custom framer and selling art works and artists’ supplies when she decided to close her store front and take her business on the road so she could work from her home in Rappahannock.
So Picture This became a mobile custom framing and art service. “My customers are ecstatic,” she said. Some had been asking her to come out to their homes or businesses, “but I couldn’t do that and run a store front also.”
“It’s easier to design a frame when you’re standing where the picture will hang,” she said.
She started Picture This in 1984. In 1990 she had a home built near Castleton, and this October she took her business on the road. “I’m still moving out of the store,” she said. In Warrenton she carried supplies for artists. “I will still special order for regular customers,” she said, “but I won’t stock artists’ supplies in my business.”
The store front kept her pretty busy, and it meant that she was frequently working late in the building after business hours
