The annual Optimists’ Christinas Parade will be the highlight on Saturday, Dec. 5. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the parade will travel down Main Street and drop off Santa Claus in front of the John Marshall building so he can visit with children.
Featured in the parade this year will be the U. S. Marine Corps Band. It’s an annual event that just keeps getting better!
Horse-drawn Trolley Rides will be offered in Old Town during the Christmas season as well.
On Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons, shoppers may take advantage of the trolley and ride from shop to shop — or just settle in and enjoy a pleasant tour of the town.

Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without music. From the silly, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town, ” to the powerful “0 Holy Night, ” perhaps nothing is more meaningful to more people than the music of Christmas.
The Blue Ridge Barbershoppers open the season with carolling from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 4. Their wonderful harmonies bring new life to many old favorite carols. The Barbershoppers will be in and out of stores and up and down the streets throughout the evening.
