Part of her work is “museum quality” framing. She once framed a letter from Robert E. Lee that had begun to deteriorate because of the wood it was fastened to.

The slowdown in the economy has hurt her business. Although she admits picture frames are luxury items compared to food and shelter, she said, “There are still people with disposable income who continue to spend money on small luxuries.”

She carries moldings that range in price from $3.50 per foot to $150 per foot, including fine hand made frames. “It’s not the boom times of the 80s, but it’s not dismal either,” she said.

“I believe in giving customers an honest quality job for the best price possible,” she said. She believes her mobile business is part of offering “quality service.”

She is fixing up a workshop in the basement and really enjoying being able to spend more time in Rappahannock. She enjoys the rural beauty, and she has many friends in the county.

She also obviously enjoys her work. “So many beautiful things have come into my hands,” she said.
