Environmental Protection will hold a program meeting at 8 p.m. Friday, December 8, at the Sperryville Fire Hall on Route 211, just west of Sperryville. Featured will be the showing of a 40-minute fdm produced by the Civic Trust of the Northwest, an English planning and environmental educational organization. Entitled “A Future for the Past,” the film documents efforts in England to control development to the extent that “visual order” is enhanced, not destroyed, and to encourage the rehabilitation and utilization of historic buildings and grounds. A discussion period will follow the showing of the film. Everyone is invited regardless of RLEP membership.
It’s been a good year for ducks in Rappahannock County if precipitation has any thing to do with it. According to statistics reported from the official weather station in Washington, Va., to date, 1972 has been the wettest year since records have been kept (1945). Through November the year’s total stands at 46.11 inches. The second largest amount for an 11 month period was in 1948 when rainfall measured 42.47 inches. Highest individual month in 1972 was June with 7.68 inches recorded. The
