The Trading Post invites the public to come meet Abraham Begay, Navajo Master Silversmith from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28 and 29. A self-taught silversmith, Abraham has a distinct, award winning style. The Trading Post is located on U.S. 211 west, Washington.

Christmas camp

The Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center will be holding a Christmas camp for senior citizens, Dec. 8-10. Cost is $58. Applications are available at the Center. Please call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619 if you have any inquiries or would like applications for interested seniors.

Christmas bazzar Dec. 6

Sunday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spring Mountain School is offering a Christmas bazaar and Advent Celebration to the public. Beautiful children’s toys and books from sources like Hearthsong and Chinaberry will be on sale at catalog prices. In addition there will be tables selling silk screened tee shirts, crafts from local craftspeople, baked goods, hot and cold organic cider and a hot lunch. Special events for visiting children will begin at 1 p.m. with a candle ritual celebrating Advent. The children enrolled in Spring Mountain School will then offer a Shepherd’s Play and flute recital. Afterwards, a children’s gift making room will be open where children may make a gift for Mom or Dad while parents shop. The event promises lots of fun for adults and children, so come out anddo your Christmas shopping and enjoy the season festivities.

Library series to continue

On Dec. 4 the Rappahannock Library’s First Friday Series, in association with the Historical Society, presents “Down From the Mountains,” a program that will examine life in the Blue Ridge Mountains before the existence of Shenandoah National Park and the effects of the Park’s creation on those who had to move. The program is at 8 p.m. with refreshments to follow. Admission is free.

Christmas bazaar

The Child Care and Learning Center will be sponsoriqg its annual Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Center. Pictures with Santa will be taken from 10:30‘a.m.-1:30 p.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Also featured will be a childrens’ shopping room, jingle rides, craft sales, white elephant sale, other rummage sales and a bake sale. A handmade quilt will be raffled off. Call 675-3237 for more information.

Citrus fruit sale

Rappahannock High School band and chorus and Rappahannock Elementary School seventh graders are sponsoring a fruit sale.

They will be selling red grapefruit large $20, small $12; navel oranges large $22, small $13 and tangeloes large $20, small $12.

Orders will be taken until Nov. 30. Payment must accompany each order.

Step Aerobic classes

Step Aerobic classes will be held at the Amissville fire hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cost is $30 for four weeks. Bring your own step. Call 937-4063 or 349-2791 for more information.

Christmas in Sperryville

The Sperryville Business Council will sponsor their annual Blue Ridge Christmas celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 27, 28 and 29. Members of the council will offer seasonal sales, special gift ideas, catalog closeout sales, open houses, free refreshments, antiques galore, wreaths, trees, greenery and Christmas cheer.

There will be a raffle drawing on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. at Country Home Antiques for a $450 shopping spree from participating merchants. Tickets may be purchased from any Business Council member.
