The Mary Ball Woman’s Club of Fredericksburg will sponsor its fifth annual Cherry Bake-off at the Fredericksburg Community Center on Canal Street on Saturday, Feb. 20. Enteries will be accepted between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., when the winners will be announced.
The following categories will be judged cakes, pies, breads, desserts (including cookies, candies, tarts and other sweets), and a miscellaneous category. There will be a junior category for girls and boys through the age of 15. The judges are professionals from the greater Fredericksburg area. Judging will be based on taste as well as appearance.
This is a community service event sponsored the Mary Ball Woman’s Club to celebrate George Washington’s birthday. There are no fees or pre-registration. All entries must contain cherries, be accompanied by the recipe and the name, address and phone number of the participant.
