The recent introduction of HB 2202 embodies a radical departure from the parental notification for minor's abortion bill supported by the overwhelming majority of Virginians and passed by the 1092 General Assembly (subsequently vetoed by Governor Wilder).
The purpose of this letter is t(? dispel the confusion that is already being engendered by this counterfeit notification bill.
The contrast between last year’s successful legislation and this year’s fraudulent version needs to be drawn. The 1992 General Assembly passed legislation that would have required a doctor to notify one parent of the underage minor before an abortion could be performed on her; notification to Child Protective Services if there were evidence of parental abuse with subsequent
