Two hurt
in head-on
collision
A head-on collision on U.S. 522 north of Flint Hill left two men slightly injured last week.
Stephen T. Canard, 29, of Front Royal was driving a 1989 Jeep on his way home from the Flint Hill Public House, where he works as the chef, when he collided with a 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by John David Rinker, 22, of Flint Hill.
According to a report filed by Virginia State Trooper S.M. Knick, Rinker was attempting to pass a south-bound 1988 Peterbilt tractortrailer truck when the collision occurred in the north-bound lane about one mile north of Rt. 637 at llrl5 p. m. last Tuesday night. '»
According to Trooper Knick’s re, port, after colliding with Mr. Canard’s Jeep, Mr. Rinker’s pickup truck spun in the road and was hit by the tractor-trailer.
Damage to the Peterbilt was estimated at $3,000. Its driver, Linwood F. Harris, 59, of Scottsville was not injured.
Mr. Canard said Monday afternoon that although he feels like his Jeep, which was a total loss, he doesn’t look like it. In fact, he was able to return to work the next day, although stiff and sore.
The accident occurred south of the Huntly dumpster site in a nopassing zone for south-bound traffic, according to Mr. Canard.
Sgt. Adams said that Trooper Knick has charged Mr. Rinker with driving while intoxicated.
Sgt. Adams also reported that Trooper Knick has charged a motorist with possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.
