Warner named
to Smithsonian
Sen. John Warner has been appointed to the Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents by the Senate Republican Leader, Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas. Sen. Warner fills the vacancy on the Board that was created by the retirement of Sen. Jake Garn of Utah.
This 17-member board is the policy-making body of the institution and oversees all the facilities under the Smithsonian’s jurisdiction, including the National Air and Space Museufn, the National Museums of American and Natural History and tht^ National Zoological Park.
“Having grown up in the Washington Metropolitan area, the Smithsonian has always been an important source of learning and enjoyment in my life,” Sen. Warner said. “I have viewed this institution from every perspective for over half a century and I look forward to the honor of serving on its Board of Regents.”
The Board of Regents is comprised of The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, The Vice President of the United States, three members from each House* of Congress and nine citizen members. •
