In the future the store may have booth seating for eating, but at first food will only be served as carry out, Mr. Baldwin said.

Mr. Baldwin said the store will be similar to a 7-11. “I think this will benefit the county because we are trying to court tourism,” he said.

The Baldwins do not plan to close the current store. They will operate two stores in the area.

The proposed store will not require a rezoning, since it will be built on property that is already zoned commercial, but to get site approval, the Baldwins had to agree that they will relocate the entrance to the business directly across from the cross-over to the School Board office and elementary school when that becomes possible.

C & P Telephone equipment is currently located where the driveway would need to be.

It would be unreasonably expensive to expect the Baldwins to pay to move that equipment, but when C & P is ready to upgrade the equipment, it will be moved, and the Baldwins will be responsible for relocating the driveway, County Administrator John McCarthy said recently.
