In the 17 and under group, the team of Lee Freeman, Jason Carter, Allen Groves and Willie Eastham finished third. In the same category, the girls’ team made up of Bonnie Jewell, Susan Jewell and Kari Kerr came in second. '
Several coaches from around the state helped out at the camp. “It was good for the kids to hear other coaches’ philosophies,” said Coach Leake. Also, he said that the kids left pretty tired every day, and that he was sure they would sleep well.
The RCES Computer Camp, led by Layne Vickers and Lilo Wolfe, taught 28 students basic computer usage, including word processing, graphics, and Lego Logo. The classes were made up of students who have just completed third through seventh grades. “They had a good time,” said Mrs. Vickers.
Once again, the Natural History Day Camp, sponsored by the Piedmont Environmental Council and Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, is being held on property belonging to the Bird family on Fodderstack Road.
