Via Satellite, Inc., a satellite television retailer in Front Royal announced recently that it was authorized by DirecTv, Inc., a unit of GM Hughes Electronics, to sell the DirecTv enteratinment programming service. DirecTv, the nation’s premier direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service is the largest television start-up in history and is slated to revolutionize the way Americans watch television. DirecTv enteratinment programming will be delivered nationwide via satellite, and received by 18-inch satellite dishes installed in homes across the country. Via Satellite will begin selling DirecTv, as well as DSS (Digital Satellite System) recei ving units in July.
DirecTv will deliver approximately 150 channels of popular cable networks, Hollywood’s hit movies, sports and special interest programming directly to homes equipped with the DSS receiving units.
