He said in Gov. Wilder’s years serving in the state senate, he had helped pass laws to control (hug paraphenalia, restore compulsory education, promote fair housing and housing for low and moderate income people, and limit parole.
He said he was elected governor, the first African-American, to be elected governor of a state, in a fair election. “He won fair and square,” Mr. Brooks said. “There were no dirty attacks.” He said Gov. Wilder had kept his campaign promises and can be expected to keep promises he makes in the senate campaign.
