Friends and family gathered for the annual outing at the Bolen Family Cemetery in Shenandoah National Park on Sunday, June 26. There were 15 in the gorup, who were: Mr. and Mrs. Isaac H. Beahm, Mrs. Jennie Frazier, Mr. and Mrs. . Maywood Cornwell, Mr. James Bolen, Miss Beulah Bolen and Mrs. Mary Bolen Burner, all of Luray, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Pullen of Sperryville, Mrs. Dorothy K. McWaters of Rixeyville, Mike Beahm of Gid Brown Hollow, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gore of Reva and Wayne Baldwin of Leon. Last year our group had double that number. We understand several were ill and the heat was another factor.
We had only one vehicle with the ability to make the trip up. The most unabled were taken along with the food in the first trip. The other folks deciding to walk at least as far as they could. The next group were picked up 15 minutes later, but the final group had to walk the whole distance up. All but five walked back. Come on family, we need those of you with trucks or 4 x 4x to attend so this doesn’t happen!
