He was born in Rappahannock County on July 7,1915.
He was retired from the Navy Research Lab in Washington, D.C.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was wounded in Belgium and received the Purple Heart. He was a life member of both V.F.W. Post 2524 and American Legion Post 330 of Culpeper.
His parents were the late Taylor G. Deal and Savilla Burke Deal.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Shotwell Deal of Reva; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Larson ol Manassas; two step-sons, William K. Clark of Rhoadesville and Grady Ford; three grandsons; four stepgranddaughters and two step-greatgranddaughters.
Funeral services were held at Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper on Saturday, July 2 with the Rev. Edward Grant officiating.
Interment was in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Aylor.
Pallbearers were Sonny Deal, Billy Doggett, Walter Deal, Randall Lillard, Silas Aylor, George Aylor, Randy Ellington and Bernard Kube.
