As to the amount of the increase, it must be observed that while the request has been referred to as a 22 percent, it is an increase of 21.8 percent over county funding from last year and an increase of only 10.5 percent in the total library budget for this year. This increase was due almost entirely to the funding to a new part-time professional to assist in the day-to-day operations of the library. This employee doubles as clerical, since the library has no clerical staff.
