On Monday the teams played home games against Manassas Park that were rescheduled from last Tuesday. ■*
This time the girls lost 14 to 2. Manassas Park players were getting solid hits off high pitches, and Panther batters were not connecting effectively. Susan Jewell had a home run. i
However the baseball team put on quite a show. The Panthers led 4 to 3 at the end of the sixth inning, but Manassas Park scored in the top of the seventh, and the game went into extra innings. Both teams added a run in the eighth inning, and played two more scoreless innings. With darkness coming on, referees decided to see if one more inning would settle the issue. Jason Brown led off the bottom of the inning with a single, and then managed to get to third on a pitcher’s error. Another error allowed him to score the winning run.
Coach Gochenour was especially pleased because Manassas Park beat Rappahannock in a game earlier in the season 18 to 0.
Jon Digges pitched for nine innings giving up five runs on 10 hits with 13 strike outs. “He pitched excellent, but he didn’t get the win,” the coach said.
Willie Eastham came in in relief in the 10th inning and pitched two innings of no-hit ball and got credit for the win.
James Eastham and Paul Brown led the hitting with three hits each. ^ •

Following a come-from-behind ^7 to 6 victory over Blue Ridge School Monday, Wakefield Country Day School’s boys’ lacrosse team has a-5 and 5 record. ■
According to Coach Fred Chandler, following a first half when the Owls trailed 5 to 3 and were plagued by sloppy groundball play, they were able to settle down and gift off good shots in the second half. The Owls defense tightened up as well, only allowing one second half goal. ',
Yonan Boya scored three of the goals and is credited with one assist. Paul Hansohn had two goals and one assist. Thad Zimmer had one goal arid one assist, and Chris Johnson had one goal.
