Yes, Virginia, the ninth annual Virginia Mushroom Festival will offer shiitake mushrooms. And oyster mushrooms and portabella mushrooms. The festival will also feature crafts, musical entertainment, Virginia wines to sample, children’s activities and plenty of food.

The annual event, sponsored by the Front Royal/Warren County Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Saturday, May 20 in downtown Front Royal.

Mushroom growers from Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and West Virginia will offer fresh, dried, canned and cooked mushrooms. Several exhibitors will cook specially-prepared mushroom dishes. Ronald Greaser of Thompson Hollow Mushrooms will provide logs and spawn again this year for those wishing to try to grow their own mushrooms. Another grower expected
