who escapes her family struggles by playing with her menagerie of glass animals. Life for Laura, performed by Amy Hathaway, is permanently altered by an unexpected visit from and unlikely suitor name Jim, performed by Derek Daczewitz. Jim’s brief encounter with the Wingfield family leads to an unexpected turn of events that will change their lives forever.
Williams’ innovative staging caused a stir when The Glass Menagerie first debuted. His use of music, lighting, an on-stage screen, and a transparent curtain behind which actors sometimes performed enhanced the theme of memory which dominates the play. RCHS students have arranged a new score for the play in an attempt to capture the mood of Williams’ original performance.
Full of tender moments and much laughter, The Glass Menagerie promises entertainment for all. Tickets will be available at the door.
Student art work will also be displayed in the commons room both evenings. Refreshments will be sold at intermission.
