Public schools will begin next year on Monday August 28 with early release at 2 p.m. This will be the first time in many years that school has started before Labor Day.
In the past county schools fre•quently started before Labor Day, but fhe General Assembly passed a law ^forbidding schools from starting before Labor Day, with few exceptions. The law was intended primarily •to keep the teen-aged labor force ‘employed at theme parks in the state 'through the Labor Day weekend.
