Rappahannock Girl Scouts of the Virginia Girl Scout Council held their first Mother-Daughter cookout at the Rappahannock County Park on Saturday, May 6.
Approximately 72 mothers and daughters and a few grandmothers and siblings enjoyed a covered dish cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs.
A special thank you to Janice Wilson and Amanda Brown of Cadet Troop 402 for making corsages of rosebuds for all the mothers.
Girl Scout leaders Karen Alexander, Sally Havstead, Edie Clark, Ginger Estes and I operated the grills.
Opening ceremony was conducted by Diana Corbin’s troop with a brief and creative history of the flag after honoring both the United States flag and the Girl Scout flag and reciting a poem.
After everyone was mildly stuffed and getting a chill form the evening air, door prizes were awarded.
We are already planning camping trips, Father-Daughter activities and special events for next year.
