Virginia Cooperative Extension is offering a financial counseling service to train volunteers to assist families in managing their money.

The training of volunteer will consist of five, three hour sessions beginning Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m., May 19 at the Orange Extension Office, 155 Newtown Street, Orange.

Training topics enable counselors to assist families in managing credit, analyzing insurance coverage, budgeting and record keeping. They are taught counseling techniques and made aware of available community resources. Counselors are given case studies to solve throughout the training.

In addition, they study the required handbook and become familiar with various work sheets that they will be using with client families.
