I hope you saw the profile in last week’s Rappahannock News entitled, “Three Generations Have Run Hackley’s Store.” It featured photos of the store, Graham and Dorothy Hackley and Jan and Ron Makela.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Henry “Buddy” Zinn who died last Wednesday, May 3. Buddy was the youngest boy in the Zinn family. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the family of Willie “Bill” Singleton who died last Thursday, May 4.
He was bom in Rappahannock County and moved to Culpeper County at the age of nine. He was a farmer and furniture refinisher. Wife Evelyn says he had so many friends; got along with everybody; he was a real likeable person.

The hummingbirds have returned. One just flew up to my window, trying to get to a bouquet of red flowers. It really is a special time of the year. The goslings are being hatched and fawn will be seen soon in the countryside, as well as so many other new lives.
