With all the other excitement going on at The Inn lately, Patrick O’Connell has become even more of a celebrity.
His cookbook. The Inn at Little Washington, A Consuming Passion," has been an enormous success, and has spent several weeks on the Washington Post bestseller list. To date, 50,000 copies of the book have been printed by Random House, and another printing is getting underway.
The book was released in November and introduced at a cookbook gala in Washington, D.C., attended by many friends of Chef O’Connell and his partner Reinhardt Lynch. Longtime friend Craig Claiborne, who has spent his birthday celebrating at The Inn for many years, was among the illustrious well-wishers at the party.
The book sales have exceeded all expectations, and at Christmas time they sold so well that they ran out of books for six weeks, with 7000 back orders to fill. Chef O’Connell’s office was, and still is, constantly decorated with stacks of books to be signed and mailed.
