Thank you for your recent article (April 2nd issue) concerning the center for Compatible Economic Development (CCED) workshop.

I would like to clarify one item that appeared in the article. I am not a spokesperson for our working group at the CCED workshop. We participated in a series of exercises designed to show us a way to assess our local community, economy and environment. We were given some data and, along with our combined knowledge of the County, we practiced assessment procedures including identifying stresses and sources of stresses within the County. Our conclusions were general and, at best, incomplete. But the purpose of the workshop was to teach us how to examine our county. A more comprehensive assessment must be conducted within the County and with broad-based input. Only then can initiatives be generated to promote com
