Sperryville welcomed the grand opening of another shop last weekend as Corriedale’s opened its doors on Route 211. Corriedale’s, which is a specialty gift shop, takes its name from a breed of sheep which originated in New Zealand and is a very old breed known for its large size and beautiful wool.
And, true to its name the shop will carry all manner of wool goods and items. The items are handmade of natural fibers and many are local to the Northern Virginia area. The business is a division of local Indian Run Acres, L.L.C. which breeds llamas, sheep, goats and rabbits, and wanted to see a market for wool goods for others.
The store’s inventory is unique with such items as the angora bear with his wool hat and sweater, sheepskin slippers, wool baby sets, blankets, socks, sweaters, all manner of small to large stuffed animals with various personalities, homemade quilts, and even feather dusters made from wool.
It also boasts Mountain Meadows Creamery products, moisturizers and soaps, and original dip mixes. Other features of the shop are hand painted boxes, hand decorated chests, framed prints, handmade purses, and original
