jazz Concert Scheduled
Jazz legend Keter Betts and his quartet will be featured in a concert on Friday, April 18 at 8 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School. The program is sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community. Tickets are $10 adults; $5 high school students. Elementary school students are free with paying adult. Tickets may be purchased at Mountainside Market, Sperryville; Culpeper Music Center; Royal Oak Bookstore, Front Royal and New Leaf Books, Warrenton.

Movie at The Theatre
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) will present the movie “Cold Comfort Farm” at The Theatre on Gay Street, Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m. Running Time: 95 minutes. Adults $5, children under 12 years $3.
SummerQuest Applications Available
“Mountains on the Horizon—A Decade of Challenges” is the theme for the 1997 Regional Governor’s School, SummerQuest! Classes in art, math, music, science, social science, and writing permit students in fifth, sixth and seventh grades to study topics in greater depth than is possible during the regular school year. Fieldtrips and guest presenters will offer students unique opportunities for learning.
This program, sponsored jointly by Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, and Rappahannock Counties and the Virginia Department of Education will be held at Rappahannock County High School, July 28 to August 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. There is no cost for this school, but students must bring lunch each day. Students must be a resident of one of the participating counties.
Applications are available from Helen Williams at the Rappahannock County School Board Office, 987-8773 and must be received by May 2.
Youth Bands To Perform
The second annual Earthfest concert to celebrate Earth Day ‘97 will be held at C.M. Crockett Park’s ampitheatre on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 7 p.m. Eleven local youth bands will perform. The $3 admission will benefit construction of the new nature center at the park.
Miss Rappahannock Pageant Set
The annual Miss Rappahannock Pageant sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad will be held at 7 p.m. on April 26 at Rappahannock County High School. Rehearsal will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. The pageant will be open to all single female residents of Rappahannock, ages 2-19 and boys, ages 2-6. There will be a Mother/Daughter and Sisters’ Category. Sponsor fee for each contestant will be $20. Join in on an evening of fun! Pageant admission $4 adults and $3 children. Fodderstack Race Set
On Saturday, April 26 at 10 a.m. the 19th annual Fodderstack 10-K Race will be held in Rappahannock County. Sponsored by the Rappahannock County Recreational Facilities Authority, the race starts in the Village of Flint Hill and passes over the lovely scenery and rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, finishing in historic Washington. Pre-registration fees are $14 by mail, postmarked by April 19. Post-registration will be $17 no later than 9:30 a.m. the morning of the race. Fees will be payable at the starting point.
