A Big Hand
For Volunteers
To the Editor:
This is National Volunteer Week, a time to recognize the value of the many people whose unpaid and gladly given efforts do so much to enhance our lives and help make Rappahannock County the extra special place it is for us to live.
As the Volunteer Coordinator of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 1 would particularly like to commend the over 50 RSVP volunteers who are so active and supportive in so many aspects of Rappahannock County activities.
Just imagine our county without these volunteers in our schools, library, fire & rescue units, the historical society, Literacy Volunteers of America, hospice, Red Cross, The Extension Office, Ki Theater, The Lions Club, Senior Nutrition Site, Rappahannock Animal Welfare League, and countless other places; and without those Good Samaritans who visit and drive for individuals in need to transportation and extra care.
Then you begin to see their services are vital to the web of life as we know it. Volunteers serve in the best tradition of our nation and Volunteerism is an inseparable part of many of our lives.
