We are making fewer errors; hitting the ball better, and our pitching has really improved. I feel confident going into our first district game,” said Payne. The Lady Panthers play their first district game on Tuesday against Brentsville.

The varsity soccer team at RCHS is not only undefeated this season, but no team has even scored against them.

Last week was an especially busy week for the players, as they beat Stonewall-Jackson on Monday (8-0), Quantico on Tuesday (2-0), and Madison on Thursday (1-0). Rappahannock dominated all the games, said Coach Christy Sander.

In the game against Quantico, said Coach Sander, sweeper Ryland Pace held the defense together. Both outside fullbacks, Shawn Torrence and David Loebs played strong defense.

Mike Letsen scored both goals, the second one in the last ten minutes of the game.

In the game against Madison, Chris Sause scored the winning goal. The score remained tied at zero most of the first half. Coach Sander said that Chris’s goal was a beautiful shot from about 25 yards out.

Jeremy Tole, a former soccer star at RCHS, is assistant coach for the team this season.

The team’s next game will be against Central at Central on April 22. The next home game will be against Brentsville on April 24, both games beginning at 5 p.m. The games against Central and Brentsville could be tougher than the beginning games of this season, said Coach Sander.
