Roach, 43, has taught Latin and Greek for 20 years and recently had her first book published by University Press of America. She is working on her second book, now about half done, which is on Greek.

She began the Latin book as a project for a creative education class where she said she was given the assignment of solving a problem in her life. Many of her middle school Latin students were frustrated by what she considered to be a lack of practice and interest in irrelevant translations, so she went about trying to find a solution. “Libellus Fabularum Latinarum,” translated, “Little Book of Latin Stories,” is a collection of myths, legends and original stories written by Roach.
