I read with interest your story in the Rappahannock News of Dec. 3 about the planned upgrade for the county E911 system. I live close to the geographic center of the coun- 1; ty but I still do not have E911 service, because ' • I happen to have a “937” telephone number, even though I’ve been paying for it monthly for eight years.
I have been carefully holding off setting my ; house on fire or falling off a high ladder all this time, because I know that unless Jim Marangoni happens to be in the office should I have an emergency, no one else will be able to find me.
How long must I, and all my neighbors, wait?

Let all be heard
Preserving the pastoral quality of our
beautiful county means many things: keeping the 25-acre minimum, keeping the ridges covered with trees, protecting our environment, keeping windy, back roads. For me an important part of community is allowing the opportunity for compromises to evolve.
For a group of residents of Route 621 the important issue of their back, windy road was decided without feeling that their voices had the opportunity to be heard. I believe that having the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors re-open the community hearing on Route 621 would allow all sides to be heard and a compromise to evolve.
