On Dec. 6 they played in a tournament at George Mason and beat all the district teams — George Mason, Manassas Park and Brentsville. Even though they beat all the teams a championship game was held. The girls were tired, they had not had a break like the other teams and had eaten late. They lost the game and the trophy went home with someone else.
Conklin protested to the George Mason athletic director and he agreed the championship game shouldn’t have been held since Rappahannock had beaten everyone. He told her it wouldn’t happen next year should the same situation
