Billy B. Wharton, 73, of Falls Church died Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Vencor Hospital in Arlington.
Mr. Wharton was born in Rappahannock County on Oct. 16, 1924, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Wharton.
He was a retired computer analyst for the U.S. Government after 47 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary Wharton of Falls Church, a son Gary Wharton of Providence, R.I.; two daughters Brenda North of Manassas and Karen Orosch of Springfield; two sisters Rachel Frazier of Fairfax and Mary Groves of Remington and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Washington Masonic Cemetery by Rev. John Burke.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 699, Vienna, Va. 22180.
Clore-Geest Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
Dr. A. W. Dearing
Huntly resident
Dr. A. Willis Dearing, 98, of Glenway Farm, Huntly died Saturday, Dec. 13 in his home.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Front Royal with Rev. William F. Ruehl. Burial followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Dr. Dearing was born Aug. 28, 1899 in Rappahannock County, son of James A. and Florence D. Dearing.
He received a B.S. Degree in chemistry from Virginia Military Institute, graduating in the upper fifth of his class. He received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
After teaching at William and Mary University, he taught at Hunter University in New York for 40 years and then as Emeritus Professor.
