Movie to be shown

The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) will present the illuminating meditation on Shakespeare’s “Richard III”, “Looking for Richard”, at The Theatre on Gay Street, Friday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m.

Certainly any serious actor would want to perform the works of Shakespeare, the greatest writer in the history of the English language, and A1 Pacino is no exception. Playing both the haunchbacked would-be king Richard III, as well as himself, Pacino assembles a group of American < actors that includes Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwin and Winona Ryder.

Filmed rehearsals show the rather tenuous American approach to the Bard, giving Pacino the opportunity to present critiques and observations from the likes of Shakespearian veterans such as Sir John Gielgud, Vanessa Redgrave, Kenneth Branagh, Derek Jacobi and James Earl Jones. (PG-13, 118 minutes).
