Mauro also excels in sports and was named RCHS Female Athlete of the Year, received the Sportsmanship Award, was the Most Valuable Player for girls varsity volleyball and was named Bull Run District Volleyball Player of the Year.
Perhaps Roger Flinchum, U.S. history, psychology and sociology teacher summed it up best when he said, “The old fashioned term ‘class act’ is a perfect description (for Courtney).
“She has been a delightfully well-rounded student,” he continued. “Her abilities are great in many areas and she uses her abilities to the maximum. She always gives maximum effort, acknowledges faults or errors then never makes them again. I didn’t have a daughter, but if I did I’d be highly flattered and gratified if she had come out as balanced and successful as Courtney!”
Mauro hopes to attend George Mason University and is interested in a career in nursing.
