Taxes vs. needs
Where will other sources
of revenue come from?
In looking at the issue of family income in the county
we found that income is not really the issue at
all. The issue is where the income is being made and where it’s being spent. Where will funds come from to continue to fund services in the county? With an eye toward the future the citizens and elected officials will have to find ways to fund the budget, increase services and opportunities here while performing a balancing act to maintain the county’s rural character and identity. Not an easy task.
It is going to be challenging. Needs for funds to support the school system in particular is a large part of what faces all who live here. The board of supervisors and other concerned citizens are looking for ways to implement other sources of revenue for the county besides raising real estate taxes. Residents need to get involved in this process.
There are many of the approximately 7,000 residents of the county that the supervisors do not hear from. There are those they hear from on a regular basis. Which are you?
