I saw John Hager last week at a barbecue held in his honor in Fredericksburg to help pay off his campaign debts. Hager, as usual, was his ebullient self and is using his office to travel across Virginia frequently and make new friends and potential future supporters.
Earley, too, is letting no grass grow under his feet. As Virginia’s top lawyer, he gets his name and photo in the paper and on television a lot and has as his fundamental base of support much of the socalled Christian coalition, though his appeal is certainly much broader.
