The proposed amendments to the zoning chapter of the county code involving family apartments were approved by the planning commission last week and will go forward to the board of supervisors.
The changes proposed are: to change the standard for distance a family apartment should be from the main dwelling from within 200 feet to within 50 feet except where unusual conditions exist and would render it impractical to do so; to rewrite standard three to read — occupancy shall be limited to not more than three persons; and to add a new standard — there shall be no more than one family apartment per separate parcel of land.
Pat Saltonstall, of Flint Hill, said the standard to limit occupancy to three persons “is unenforceable and an invasion of privacy.” She also said 50 feet is too
