Miss Butler is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Richard Butler of Boston, Va. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Warfield Brown of Sperryville.
Mr. Kane Jr. is the grandson of Mrs. Geraldine Shawen Booth and the late Mr. Harold Cornelius Shawen and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Robbins Kane, all of Newport News, Va.
A June 1999 wedding is planned.
